“Hey, that’s me!” Ben exclaimed.
A couple weeks ago, much to our surprise Ben suddenly flashed across the television during the commercial for the Newport 10K in May. I didn’t see anything, so Ben dug around YouTube to find the promo. Sure enough, it was Ben.
We Ben carefully dissected the promo. You can see him at 1 second where he crosses the start line and is pressing the start button of his precious Garmin and again at 7-8 second when he’s running through.
It was surprising and fun to see this promo. We ran this race last year as a part of our training for the Brooklyn Half Marathon. It’s a nice flat course that goes through Jersey City. It starts and ends in Newport Town Square, which is easy to get to from a PATH station.
This year the Newport 10K will be on May 11th at 8:30. The entry fee is $27 (goes up to $30 on April 10th). It’s not a bad race to do as a part of your training for a spring half marathon.
