2015 in Review

Every year I like to go through my old posts and review the year. It’s a fun way to reminisce and see just how much we did during the year.

Jan: We went to Hawaii for a lovely two week vacation. We went to Maui and Honolulu, where I got to catch up with an old friend.

Feb: I became a brand ambassador for Headsweats. Did my first race of the year, Miami Half Marathon. We do a lot of house renovation.

March: We moved to our house in Brooklyn from Hoboken. Somehow Ben and I survived.

April: I pace my first race, Bucks County Half Marathon.

May: Ben and I get married! I really loved seeing my friends’ FB status saying that they were in NYC knowing that they were there for me and that we got to have so many of our beloved family and friends all together in one place. It’s rare to have this type of opportunity. It was overwhelming, but an incredible time. I also won my first race, Grape Gallop 2-Mile.

June: I go to Toronto for a festschrift honoring my old advisor. Ben and I do a mini-honeymoon in the Poconos until we’re able to go away for a real one. I start training for Wineglass Marathon. I became a blogger for Salty Running.

July: A lot of hot humid summer running. We put up a wrought iron fence in front of our house.

August: I complete one of my bucket list races – Beach to Beacon 10K! I traveled to San Francisco. Ben and I go to the Jazz Age Lawn Festival on Governor’s Island.

September: 2nd AG finish at the Swanzey Half Marathon!

October: It’s a big month for me! It was my birthday. I completed my first marathon, Wineglass in 3:54:04. I set a new 5K PR (23:13) and was the overall female winner!

November: Recovering from Wineglass

December: We joined the Prospect Park Track Club. It’s Ben’s birthday. Our year will end with a bang – in Nairobi, Kenya! We’re finally going on our honeymoon to Kenya and Tanzania on Dec 20th. It’s gonna be an epic trip. Our plans include climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, going on a safari to see wild animals, and doing a homestay with a Maasai tribe. If you have any tips or recommendations for our trip, I’d love to hear them.

Oh, 2015, you brought many big changes to my life, but good ones. 2016, I wonder what you have in store for me. I’ll be greeting you on the other side in Nairobi.

  1. Wow you had a really busy year! Congrats! We’re hoping to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in 2017 so I’m looking forward to hearing how it goes for you (and for some tips). Enjoy! 😊

    • Thanks! I’ve been posting more on Instagram right now because my phone is the only way to access the Internet. Blogging thru the app I found out the other day is difficult. I use the same handle on Instagram if you want to see photos.

    • We are! It’s been eye-opening. Do you have Instagram? I’ve been posting more regularly there because my phone is my only access to the Internet and this makes blogging hard. I have the same handle on Instagram.
