My Own Long Slow Distance

Ben has started his marathon training for qualifying for Boston at Steamtown this fall. His attempt at qualification is turning out to be a bit of a competition with a former member of our running group. The other guy used to live in Jersey City, but he moved back to Belgium. He’s also attempting to qualify for Boston this fall. The smack talking has already started.

On Monday I went out for my own long run. I hadn’t done a long run in a couple of weeks. I’m not particularly good about doing long runs. My goal this summer is to do more of them in order to prepare the Wineglass Half Marathon in October. The purpose of Monday’s run was to do a long run. I would have liked to have ran it between 9:00-9:30 pace, but I just wasn’t feeling it. I didn’t stressed about it. It was warm and at that moment it was more important that I doing a long run.

  1. Glad you didn’t push yourself to hit your splits. It’s early summer, you’re still getting used to the heat and there’s LOTS of training ahead before October. Nothing like an LSD run 🙂
